Gestió de l’aula: treballar la competència intercultural

Objectius generals

En el context actual les relacions amb persones d’altres entorns culturals són cada cop més freqüents. Aquest curs respon a la demanda creixent de formació sobre com cal abordar l’ensenyament de qüestions interculturals a la classe de llengua. Es tracta d’un curs teoricopràctic en què s’intentarà donar resposta a les següents preguntes entre altres: Què és la competència intercultural? Quin paper té la competència intercultural en la comunicació? Com es pot abordar l’ensenyament del component intercultural a l’aula d’idiomes? Com podem ajudar els alumnes a desenvolupar la seva competència intercultural, reconèixer-la i a valorar els seus progressos? Amb quines eines?

Programa

28 de juny de 2010:

9.30 a 11 h. Cultural content in teaching for intercultural competence. [ACTIVITAT AMALGAMA]

Lloc: aula M6-001 Facultat de Medicina

This presentation explores, from a variety of perspectives, the conceptual and practice-oriented territory related to the teaching of cultural content within the more traditional TEFL paradigm. It clarifies key terms in this area and examines the distinction between cultural information and cultural understanding. Then, it extends the discussion of cultural awareness to intercultural awareness as linked to both skills-based and perspectives-based approaches to the study of cultural texts and phenomena. Finally, the presentation discusses an evaluation model for appraising teaching materials regarding their potential for intercultural teaching and learning.

11.30 a 14.30 h Autobiography of Intercultural Encounters (AIE) What is it? Who is it good for? Why and how to use it?

Goals

* getting to know the AIE in some detail;

* understanding why and how it can be used in own work;

* recognising the educational value and benefits of AIE for students;

* relating the specifics of the AIE and its implementation to own social, professional, & cultural context; and

* experiencing the impact of working with the AIE

Goals

* focusing on the importance of openness, feedback and learning collaboratively together;

* enhancing awareness that ‘difference’ is not, or is less, problematic as long as it is positively acknowledged and constructively handled.

11.30 a 14.30 Mobility for young people and intercultural sensitivity

Goals

* introducing the concept of the Mobility for young people training resource;

* develop awareness of the challenges and opportunities that result from the complexities of contemporary ‘mobile’ living.

Nota biogràfica de Leah Davcheva

Dr Leah Davchev a has recently established an intercultural education training consultancy in Bulgaria (2007). She is involved in designing and delivering workshops and seminars to make it possible for people – educators, youth facilitators, young people, HR experts, hospitality workers, media experts, business executives, etc – to work and live in an environment which is becoming more culturally complex and diverse. Prior to this and for more than 15 years, Leah was the manager of a series of British Council intercultural relations projects in Bulgaria and in the region of South-East Europe. These projects have given her an in-depth experience of the development within education, and the teaching of English
in particular, first of cultural and then intercultural perspectives. Leah works with fellow professionals from Spain, the UK, Greece, Germany, Norway, and Bulgaria of course. She is now completing a partnership project within the Anna Lindh Foundation. The outcome of it is a virtual learning resource for youth educators and facilitators. Leah is a member of the Pestalozzi network of trainers, and is part of the Council of Europe team of the Autobiography of Intercultural Encounters (AIE) She is also a member of several professional organisations, among them IAIE – International association of intercultural education, and SIETAR – Society of intercultural education, training and research. Leah is interested in narrative research and she has completed a couple of narrative research projects. She has published extensively – books, book chapters and articles – on her own and in co-authorship.

    Hola,
    aquest dia coincideix amb la última sessió del curs sobre les TIC que molts professors del Servei estem seguint. Ja sé que és difícil, però hi haura alguna possiblitat de canviar la data?

    ja no sé en quin més visc.
    Tot correcte: el curs de Sant Pau acaba el dia 28 però de maig, no de Juny. Disculpeu.
