Week of conferences at TransMedia Catalonia

The TransMedia Catalonia research group has organized several events taking place this week.

The ARSAD congress on audio description will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the expected participation of more than 140 people from all over the world, and the RAD project as a central theme. The guest speaker is Ben Shirley of the University of Salford, who will discuss the new possibilities of next-generation audio.

A free seminar on the EASIT project will be held on Tuesday afternoon, dealing with the application of easy-to-understand language in audiovisual environments. Elizabet Serra, from Associació Lectura Fàcil, and Clara Delgado, from CEAPAT, are the guest speakers and 240 people will be able to access the teaching materials that have been generated within the framework of the project.

The week will continue with the M4ALL9 international conference from Wednesday to Friday. It began in 2005 in Barcelona. After being held al over the world (Portugal, Belgium, United Kingdom, Croatia, Australia, Sweden), it returns to Barcelona in a virtual format. The keynote speakers are Shadi Abou-Zahra (W3C) and Mariana Diaz-Wionczek (NYU), and virtual assistance is planned for more than 230 participants who will be able to enjoy 2 workshops, 1 round table, 3 panels and 80 presentations.

Chinese-Spanish Translation Award Marcela de Juan (3rd edition)

This award is jointly awarded by the Faculty of Translation and Interpretation of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, ‚Äč‚Äčthe TXICC research group and the Confucius Institute of Barcelona.

This award aims to promote literary translation from Chinese into Spanish and Catalan and rewards the best translations that have been published recently.

The award is biennial and will alternate the two languages: Spanish and Catalan. This prize will be awarded in odd years for Spanish translations published in the four previous years, and in even years for Catalan translations published in the four previous years.

The jury will be made up of specialists in the field of translation in the source and target languages ‚Äč‚Äčand will be chaired by the dean of the UAB Faculty of Translation and Interpreting.

The deadline for submitting the translations for this call is February 15, 2021. The awarding ceremony will take place in October 2021.
