Important new feature: from 2020-21, this MA now also offers a non-track option. Please see below.
Our MA is open to students from all over the world who have completed a first degree in English or similar; its working language—for all classes, assignment and the final dissertation—is English.
The MA in Advanced English Studies is usually taken full-time over one academic year (although a longer part-time study option is available) and consists of obligatory and optional class-based courses throughout the two semesters of the year. Additionally, students are required to write a supervised dissertation and to present and defend this orally as part of the degree requirements.
The MA is structured around two major ambits in linguistics and literature, respectively, which are Multilingualism and the Acquisition of English & Literature and Cultural Studies.
Within these ambits, the MA in Advanced English Studies offers two discrete tracks (Linguistics/Literature) and a non-track option.
