The Acquisition of PhD Features: Pre-Academic Student to Independent Researcher
Dakota J. Thomas-Wilhelm is an English as a Second Language Instructor at the University of Iowa in the United States and a PhD student in English Studies at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
Dakota’s primary research focus is in Generative Second-Language Acquisition, where he has spent the past four years investigating the acquisition of L2-English articles and noun types by L1-Mandarin speakers.
This talk aims to reflect upon and discuss the process and growth undergone from a pre-academic-stage student to an independent-stage researcher throughout graduate studies.
