Welcome to the English Phonetics and Phonology Research Group Website
The issues studied by our research group are concerned with the description and analysis of English sound patterns using experimental methods. The group addresses questions that have a practical and theoretical importance for understanding the phonological structure of English as well as its phonetic variability across time, geographical areas, social classes, and speakers. It also addresses questions relative to the acquisition of English phonology by monolingual and bilingual speakers.
We address questions that have important applications for language description and use, foreign language acquisition, speech technology, speech disorders, and forensic phonetics.
We are currently funded by a research grant from the Spanish Ministry of Innovation and Competitiveness (2014-2016, Ref: FFI2013-46354-P).
