Abstract:

Brexit is an unprecedented challenge for EU law. In relation to the European Area of Freedom, Security and Justice, and as regards cooperation in civil matters, the exit from the UK will mean that it will considered a third State for all purposes. The existence of international agreements linking the UK, the EU and its Member States will facilitate the resolution of some practical problems, but an exit agreement shoul specify the temporary application of European instruments
