Andrea Sunyol Garcia-Moreno, Co-investigator, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Dept of English and Germanic Studies)

I am currently a PhD Student at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. I investigate the relationships between multilingualism, internationalism and elitism in internationalising private schools. My PhD continues the research line of my MA Thesis, a sociolinguistic ethnography on multilingualism in an international school in Catalonia, directed by Dr. Eva Codó. This piece of work has been one of the four selected for the I Jornada Nous Talents en Sociolingüística Catalana organised by Societat Catalana de Sociolingüística (SOCS-IEC).

I hold an MA in Advanced English Studies (Multilingualism and Acquisition of English); a BA in English Philology; and a BA in Catalan Philology from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where I teach in the English Department, at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

I am a member of the research group CIEN (UAB), which studies multilingualism from a critical sociolinguistic point of view. My research interests include sociolinguistic ethnography, multilingualism and education, language ideologies and the linguistic construction of elitism.
