At the restaurant

Communicative Objective:
This conversation will help you to learn:
– New vocabulary
– How to express your complaints
– How to use: do/ don’t like

Situation:

You wanted to make a surprise to your partner inviting him/her to the most expensive restaurant in the town. Once you are in the restaurant, you feel a bit disappointed because the service is not treating you that well and the food is not as good as you expected.

Task:
– Order your food
– The waiters: they are rude and slow (complain about them)
– The menu (there is not that much variety, and you have to wait for ages to get the food)
– The price is too expensive and you don’t get that much food.
– The dishes were not clean

On the other hand, you are getting really angry, so you might have a talk with the restaurant owner. Your partner will try to calm you down because everybody is looking at you and it’s an embarrassing situation.

Communicative Objective:
This conversation will help you to learn:
– How to use some specific vocabulary in a dialogue
– How to face a delicate situation

Situation:

Your mother isn’t at home and she asked if you could go to the supermarket to buy some things. She wrote a list with the things you have to buy.

Task:
Go to the delicatessen section and ask for the products that are in the list. Then ask where you can find the rest of the products you need. After that, you have to pay in the cash but you’ll notice that you mother didn’t give you enough money, so try to convince the cashier that you are going home to get some more money and you’ll come back to pay the bill.

Your best friend is always eating in fast food places and you hate them. You know they are not healthy and they can cause you different illnesses if you abuse of this kind of food.

Task:

Warn your friend about the consequences of eating usually in fast food restaurants can have. Help him/her designing a healthy diet

My neighbour recipe

Communicative objectives:
The objective of this activity is that you learn how to:
– Use the main cooking verbs.
– Give correct instructions for recipes.
– Learn some food vocabulary.

Situation:
Your husband calls you because he has invited his boss to dinner. You have no idea of what to cook. Your neighbour is a professional cook and you want him to help you.

Task:
Work in pairs. Ask your neighbour to help you. You need to prepare a starter, a main course and something special for dessert. He/She tell you how to cook it and you follow the instructions. Ask him/her everything you need, because everything must be perfect for tonight!

Grammar:
Obligation / Recommendation: (e.g. you should…, you must…, you have to…, etc.)
Quantifiers: (e.g. a few, not too much, a couple of, several, etc.)
Adverbs of time: (e.g. afterwards, before, then, etc.)
