Telling Stories

Idioma: anglès
Nivell: B2.1 / B2.2 / C1.1 (nivell 4,5 i 6)
Destresa: parla

Communitative Objective: by the end of this activity you will know the appropriate way to recount events in your life and tell them to others in English.

Situation: imagine that you and a friend are at a dinner party where there are a lot of people that you do not know.  You notice that many of the guests are mingling with each and telling one another interesting stories that happened to them in their lives.  Wanting to be included, you think of the most memorable event that occurred in your life so that you may be able to tell the guests your interesting story and feel included.

Task: Think of an interesting story from your life.  Some ideas include:

  • a funny thing that happened when you were young
  • a lucky escape
  • an embarrassing moment
  • your best day ever
  • a romantic evening
  • an adventure while travelling

It is important to address  Who, What, When, Where, Why and How when telling a story. (Who was there, What happenend, when did it happen, where did it happen, etc…)

Tell your story, and after you are finished telling your story, try to retell an interesting story that happened to a friend of yours.  If you are working with a partner then listen to his/her story. If you work in a group, take turns retelling each other´s story.

Examples-Here is an example of some students telling stories about their experience living in another country.
